Giving is forever

I have a friend who posted on her personal Facebook the very day before: " Aien Donation Registration Card" issued on March 21, 2025.

She is no longer young. I asked, "Is it for show-off?". She smiled: "There is nothing to show off in my life, who would show off this card?" Then she said: "Living dead cannot be defined by breath. The value of life is happy moments and a feeling of happiness, comfort from heart to soul. Peaceful times can still bring life. Last weekend, the National Organ Transplant Center sent me an organ donation registration card. I don't know if when I "go" people know that quickly taking some things that are still usable and taking them to transplant to someone in need to live healthy is great.

Basically, up to now, the skin is covered with organs and thinning skin, the eyes and nose are covered, even though they are old, they still run bonsai, healthy, and unpolluted. The country's health sector is lacking organs to save lives. And online organ donation procedures are so fast that it is unexpected, because now there is an electronic ID card. It takes less than 3 minutes to fill in the information, then enter and receive the card the next day. dies to save lives, not to prolong life with that meaning.

Her purpose when putting up the organ donation card was just to give that message and also to inform that registering to donate tissues and organs is now also simple and concise. "In 4.0 - she said - the problem is whether we are ready or not".

Recently, Thong Nhat Hospital (HCMC) informed that the unit has coordinated with the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center and experts from Cho Ray Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and a number of supporting units (Traffic Police, Forensic doctors of Ho Chi Minh City Police) to organize the collection and transportation of 7 units of tissues and body parts (1 heart, 2 liver parts, 2 kidneys, 2 corneas) from brain-dead donors to hospitals and transplants for patients.

The patient who donated organs is a man, named N, born in 1981, from Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak, who was admitted to the emergency room with multiple very serious injuries (head injury, cervical spine injury, chest injury, fracture of ribs, lung damage) in a state of cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest. Doctors from the Emergency Department successfully resuscitated the patient's heart and lungs. The patient was then transferred to the Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation Surgery for monitoring.

Doctors and medical staff have been active and dedicated to treatment. However, due to severe brain damage, the patient was assessed to have the potential for brain death and the hospital activated the hospital's Tissue and Organ Transplantation Association to meet and discuss with the patient's wife, mother and siblings. After being explained carefully, the family suppressed the pain to make a very noble decision - agreeing to donate tissues and body parts when Mr. N was brain-dead.

The surgery to remove tissue and body parts from a brain-dead donor was successful. 7 units of tissue and body parts were quickly transported to hospitals for transplant to recipients, including: 2 kidneys transplanted to 2 patients at Thong Nhat Hospital, 1 heart and 1 part of liver transplanted to 2 patients at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, 1 part of liver transplanted to a patient at Hue Central Hospital, 2 corneas transplanted to 2 patients at Cho Ray Hospital.

To live by donating organs, the humanistic spirit of "giving is forever" needs to be spread - that is also a way to "long the life" of each person.
