Ho Chi Minh City - The inter-sectoral working group conducts inspections and reviews of procedures, strengthens the work of combating IUU fishing at fishing ports in the area.

On March 5, an inter-sectoral working group led by Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - inspected and surveyed the work of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing at fishing ports in the area, in order to assess the implementation of fisheries management regulations.

Representatives of Incomap port (Vung Tau ward) said that on average, each year the port receives and unloads over 20,000 tons of seafood, mainly high-value fish species serving export processing. The supervision of fishing vessels entering and leaving the port is carried out strictly through the eCDT electronic log system. Since this system was deployed, 100% of fishing vessels when docking and leaving the port declare on the system, helping to manage and monitor exploitation activities and update data promptly. The port also implements the confirmation of the origin of exploited seafood for export according to regulations, contributing to ensuring transparency in the seafood supply chain.

In addition, the port regularly coordinates with functional agencies and Border Guard forces to inspect and supervise fishing vessels; compare with journey monitoring data (VMS). At the port, no cases of "3 no" fishing vessels (unregistered, uninspected, unlicensed) docking at the port are recorded.

According to reports, Cat Lo fishing port (Phuoc Thang ward) has also deployed 100% of ship import and export declaration on eCDT software; fishermen have gradually become familiar with and complied with regulations. In 2025, more than 1,100 ship arrivals and more than 1,180 ship departures from ports were controlled, with seafood discharge output reaching over 20,000 tons.

The working delegation conducted a practical and detailed inspection of the process of declaring ships docking, leaving port, and loading and unloading at Incomap port. Through this, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Hoang Nguyen Dinh requested the fishing port to continue to strictly implement the review and declaration of fishing vessels docking and leaving port in accordance with the process, not allowing the situation of ships entering and leaving but not being controlled to occur.

At the same time, it is necessary to fully apply the e-food traceability system eCDT for 100% of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, closely monitor the discharged seafood output as a basis for issuing certificates of confirmation and certification of the origin of exploited seafood in accordance with regulations.

According to the plan, the inter-sectoral working group will continue to inspect and review the work of combating IUU fishing at other fishing ports in Ho Chi Minh City in the following days.
