Tho Chau Special Zone (An Giang province) is a frontline island, more than 200km away from the center of Rach Gia, with difficult socio-economic and living conditions. In which, issues of people's livelihood and economic development on the island are of great concern and mentioned by voters.
Talking to Mr. Huynh Huu Hiep - Secretary of the Party cell, Head of Bai Ngu hamlet, said that in general, so far all preparations for the election have been completed early, the decoration, listing, biography of candidates... have all been completed very early. People on the island are very excited and excited to prepare for the election.

Mr. Hiep expressed: "Through recording, voters expressed their trust in the candidates and also sent their thoughts and expectations that the elected National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term are concerned about issues that people in Tho Chau are still facing difficulties. We also summarize the opinions of voters focusing on some issues of people's livelihoods and economic development.
Mr. Hiep informed that people hope to create capital to convert suitable livestock and crops, develop new industries to do more economically efficient business. The second is water sources. Previously, people on the island could use it through the dry season, and in the rainy season, well water was still available, but now there are more workers working on projects and more visitors coming to the island than before. People also hope that levels and sectors will pay attention to building water reservoirs to ensure daily life.
The third is the electricity issue, although there are currently generators, we also want to invest in solar power or bring electricity to the island because generators are only temporary options. There needs to be a long-term and sustainable plan for people to use.
Fourthly, Tho Chau does not have a high school to ensure that students finish high school and create human resources. Currently, only after 9th grade, some households let them drop out of school because they do not have the conditions to go to Phu Quoc or the mainland to continue studying, too far and too expensive. Voters are very much looking forward to this issue," Mr. Hiep said.

Voters also hope to soon resolve difficulties in transferring health insurance medical examination and treatment so that people can receive better health care and enjoy the preferential policies of health insurance.
Mr. Tran Quoc Giang - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tho Chau Special Zone said: Due to being hundreds of kilometers away from the mainland and difficult travel conditions, Tho Chau Special Zone was allowed by the National Election Council to conduct the Voting on March 8, 2026, 7 days before the general election of the whole country. In this election, Tho Chau has 5 polling stations, with 1,972 voters going to vote.
Tho Chau Special Zone elected 15 delegates of the People's Council of the special zone for the 2026-2031 term out of 26 candidates; elected 4 delegates of the Provincial People's Council out of 7 candidates; elected 3 delegates of the 16th National Assembly out of 5 candidates.
