The Vietnam Register (VNA) has just sent a document to the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security) regarding the borrowing of the agency's name to defraud and appropriate money online.
According to the Vietnam Banking Administration, recently, the bank accounts of the Vietnam Banking Administration received amounts from VND 10,000 to VND 23,000 transferred from personal accounts, most of which did not clearly state the content of the money transfer.
Based on the information about the license plate information recorded in the money transfer content of some vehicle owners, the Vietnam Register has contacted a number of vehicle owners and learned: A group of subjects called the vehicle owners to inform them that from October 1, 2024, the Vietnam Register will change the inspection stamp model and request that vehicle owners who want to change the new stamp must pay the amount of 10,000 VND/tem and the transportation fee of 23,000 VND to the account of the Vietnam Register.
This group of subjects instructed vehicle owners to access a fake link of the Vietnam Road Administration to declare personal information for the stamp change. When the vehicle owner accesses the above fake link, there is a risk of being scammed and having his money stolen.
To prevent the above situation, the Vietnam Road Administration has issued a document notifying the motor vehicle inspection units to warn the vehicle owners in the management area.
The Vietnam Register does not have a request to change the inspection stamp, and does not have a request or notification to vehicle owners about transferring money to perform the inspection stamp change service.
The Vietnam Road Administration recommends that all requests and notices of money transfer from calls or messages of strange phone numbers (not publicly listed by the Vietnam Road Administration) should be absolutely not transferred by vehicle owners. At the same time, do not access fake links of the Vietnam Road Administration.
