On August 19, Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command said that Nhat Le Border Guard Station had just deployed forces to support the emergency care of a crew member who had a labor accident at sea.
At about 7:30 am on the same day, Nhat Le Border Guard Station received a report from fishing vessel QB-91435TS about a crew member suffering a serious labor accident and needing urgent emergency support.
Fishing vessel QB-91435TS captained by Mr. Nguyen Hung (born 1983, residing in residential group 1, Bao Ninh, Dong Hoi, Quang Tri province), along with 6 crew members, was fishing at position 17°39'52" North latitude, 106°54'30" East longitude, about 17 nautical miles southeast of Nhat Le estuary.
During the working process, crew member Nguyen Van Hai (born 1972, residing in Hai Ninh village, Ninh Chau commune, Quang Tri province) was unfortunately swept away by the winch.
The accident caused Mr. Hai's right thumb to be severed, and the remaining fingers were crushed. The victim lost a lot of blood and was in critical condition.
Immediately after the accident occurred, the captain turned the ship ashore and informed the border guard force for support.
Upon receiving information, Nhat Le Border Guard Station sent a working group of 4 officers and soldiers led by Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Long - Deputy Station Commander, along with military medical staff and medical equipment to the sea to approach the fishing boat.
After approaching, the border guard force coordinated with the crew members to give first aid and stop the bleeding for the victim. Mr. Hai's health initially stabilized and continued to be monitored during the process of being brought ashore for transfer to a medical facility for treatment.
According to the Border Guard of Quang Tri province, the deployment of forces and vehicles has promptly supported the rescue of victims, contributing to ensuring safety for fishermen in the process of going offshore and sticking to the sea.
