"The water rises so quickly!" - the loud cry resounded in the middle of the night in Group 6, Tan An village, Thuong Duc commune, Da Nang city when the water of Vu Gia river rose above the knees and overflowed into a house. In the rushing water, the police and military forces of the commune immediately arrived, using ropes and life jackets to reach each household, supporting the elderly, children and essential assets to get out of the flooded area over 1m deep.
On the morning of October 27, Mr. Phan Trung Phi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Duc commune - informed quickly that prolonged heavy rain from October 25 caused the water level of Vu Gia and Con rivers to rise rapidly, causing local flooding and isolating many areas. "The forces were on duty all night, no one had time to rest. We mobilize the maximum number of militia, police, and youth union members to support the people in mobilizing assets and moving the elderly to safety," said Mr. Phi.



As of the morning of October 27, the entire Thuong Duc commune still has 2,120 households (about 4,300 people) isolated in the villages: Dai My, Thanh Dai, Thai Chan Son, Truc Ha, Tan An, Ha Duc Tay, Tinh Dong Tay, Ha Duc Dong and Go Huu resettlement area. Group 6, Tan An village alone had a house flooded more than 1m deep.
The commune government has temporarily suspended students from school, put up warning signs at landslide risk points, mobilized local forces to support evacuation, and rescued 113 households with 447 people to safety. The militia - police - youth unions are still on duty 24/7, supporting people in moving, transporting necessities and ensuring security in flooded areas.



In the old Duy Xuyen district, there are nearly 700 households in Dong Binh (Nam Phuoc), Le Bac (Thu Bon) and Van Buong communes (Duy Xuyen) isolated by floodwaters; many national highways and inter-village roads are flooded from 0.3-0.6m. The authorities have set up barriers and warning posts to prevent people from entering the danger zone. At least 30 hectares of winter vegetables were flooded and severely damaged.

Currently, the water level on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river is rising rapidly. The Central Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that in the next 12 hours - 24 hours, floods on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river will continue to peak at above alert level 3, the highest alert level - causing major floods; the Han River will be above alert level 2 - average flood; the Tam Ky River will be at approximately alert level 1 - minor flood.
The communes: Que Phuoc, Nong Son, Duy Xuyen, Thu Bon, Xuan Phu, Thanh My, Thuong Duc, Ha Nha, Phu Thuan, Vu Gia, Dai Loc, Go Noi, Dien Ban Tay, Dien Ban Bac, Hoa Tien... are in areas at high risk of widespread flooding.
