Due to prolonged heavy rain combined with hydroelectric reservoirs releasing water to regulate large flows, on the evening of October 26, the water level of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river rose rapidly, causing many low-lying areas in Da Nang to be deeply flooded and locally isolated.



According to the Central Central Hydrometeorological Station, by 1:00 a.m. on October 27, the water level at Nong Son station had exceeded alert level III (15.58 m) and continued to rise. It is forecasted that on the morning of October 27, the water level of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river may reach alert level 3, and the Han river may be close to alert level 2.
In the flood center of Dai Loc, the river water rose rapidly, causing the Ai Nghia bridge and the Foreign Trade bridge to be heavily flooded, many households were busy moving their belongings at night. "The water level rose rapidly every hour, we had to mobilize the whole family to move our belongings to escape the flood at night," Mr. Tran Van Truong (42 years old, Dai Loc) confided.


In Hai Van ward (Da Nang city), the authorities have urgently evacuated more than 50 households in Ta Lang, Nam Yen, Loc My, Truong Dinh, An Dinh residential groups... to safe places. Mr. Nguyen Thuc Dung, Chairman of Hai Van Ward People's Committee, said that the police, militia, and residential area management board are "on duty 24/7 to support people, while setting up ropes and warning signs at flooded and landslide areas".



In the early morning of October 27, in the communes of Thang Binh, Que Son, Nong Son, Hiep Duc, Nam Giang, there continued to be very heavy rain, the authorities still used storm surges to patrol and blockads on DT611 routes (Nong Son commune), Ba Ngan bridge (Nam Phuoc commune), Dong Binh dam, Hoi An ancient town... to ensure traffic safety, instruct people not to go through deeply flooded areas.



Not only in Da Nang, in the mountainous commune of Tra Leng - where prolonged heavy rain caused serious landslides, nearly 200 people were evacuated by Tra Leng commune police to headquarters for safe shelter. On the night of October 26, amid the cold rain and floodwaters, the police officers cooked instant noodles and shared warm meals with the people.
