Priority is given to resolving procedures for people.
According to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Da Nang city in the period of 2023 - 2025, from January 1, Da Nang city merged 17 commune-level administrative units. After the merger, Da Nang city will have 36 wards and 11 communes, 9 wards less than at present.
Ms. Le Thi Thuan, Chairwoman of Hai Chau Ward People's Committee, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City said: "From the beginning of 2025, we have thoroughly informed the cadres and civil servants and assigned specific tasks to each department and field. Especially for the Reception and Results Department at the ward, we must make sure that all administrative procedures of citizens must be carried out as quickly and concisely as possible and ready to perform all tasks".
According to Ms. Le Thi Thuan, up to now, the handover of old and new units has basically stabilized. Priority is given to arranging the Department to receive and process records and procedures for people.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Bao Nam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Ninh Ward, Hai Chau District, affirmed: "The work is not new. Officials and civil servants have also performed these tasks. However, with the increasing workload, we still have to try to ensure and resolve all administrative procedures related to the people."
Initial results
Da Nang currently has 8 district-level administrative units, including 6 districts and 2 rural districts. At the commune level, the city has a total of 47 units, including 36 wards and 11 communes. In Hai Chau district, Hai Chau 1 and Hai Chau 2 wards were merged into Hai Chau; Phuoc Ninh, Nam Duong, and Binh Hien wards were merged into Phuoc Ninh ward; Binh Thuan and Hoa Thuan Dong wards were merged into Binh Thuan ward.
In Thanh Khe district, merge Thanh Khe Dong and Hoa Khe wards into Thanh Khe Dong ward; merge Tam Thuan and Xuan Ha wards into Xuan Ha ward; merge Thac Gian and Vinh Trung wards into Thac Gian ward; merge Tan Chinh and Chinh Gian wards into Chinh Gian ward. In Son Tra district, merge An Hai Dong and An Hai Tay wards into An Hai Nam ward.
In the early days of implementing the resolution and merging administrative units, Da Nang people began to get used to the changes.
Mr. Vuong Van Nghia, a resident of Da Nang, went to the People's Committee of Hai Chau Ward to complete the procedures for notarizing the household registration for his nephew. He shared: "I am very happy because although the merger is in progress, the work may be busier, but the officers and civil servants here still work very enthusiastically and completed the procedures for me quickly."
The Da Nang City Party Committee also identified the locality's theme for 2025 as: "A year focusing on streamlining the apparatus associated with cutting administrative procedures, effectively implementing urban government organization and specific mechanisms and policies to strongly promote economic growth".
