On January 15, Samsung E&A Vietnam Co., Ltd. and DNP Water Industry Joint Stock Company presented investment ideas for the Hau River Southwest Region Raw Water Pumping Station Project and transmission pipeline system, in order to ensure stable water sources for domestic clean water treatment plants in Ca Mau province.

At the working session with the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, representatives of businesses assessed that the province is facing many major challenges in water security due to the impact of drought, saltwater intrusion, land subsidence and depletion of groundwater resources.
Currently, the province's domestic fresh water source is mainly still exploited from groundwater, while the demand for water use is increasing, posing many risks for sustainable development and environmental protection in the coming time.
Businesses propose investment plans for projects in the direction of exploiting and transmitting raw water from the upstream Hau River to Ca Mau, instead of building large-scale inter-provincial clean water treatment plants. This approach aims to maximize the existing water treatment plant system of the province, limit waste of invested assets; and at the same time, reduce disruption in domestic water supply activities.

According to the proposal, the project includes investing in a raw water pumping station with a capacity of about 600,000 m3/day and night, combined with an overpressure pumping station system and 9 main transmission pipelines with large diameters. The pipelines are arranged along the corridors of highways and major traffic axes, creating favorable conditions for site clearance and construction.
The total estimated investment is about 5,396 billion VND; the starting wholesale price of raw water is about 4,200 VND/m3 from 2029, with a suitable adjustment roadmap to ensure investment efficiency; at the same time, maintain stable domestic water prices, meeting social security goals. The investor commits that when the investment policy is approved, the project will be implemented to ensure progress, quality and efficiency in accordance with the regulations of competent authorities.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su highly appreciated the idea and urgency of the project, affirming that this is a suitable approach to the Government's major policies and plans on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region and ensuring water security.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su agreed to establish a working group to study and propose the project, assigning the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and investors to continue to review and clarify key issues, especially the plan to supply raw water or treated water, the water source conversion roadmap, and decisive factors for investment efficiency to summarize and report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration according to its authority.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
