Before the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term, at many polling stations in Can Tho City, the atmosphere of preparation is urgent.

And as the lights gradually went out, in the polling stations there were still people silently staying awake with their ballots. They were members of security teams, people in charge of maintaining security and order so that the election day would take place safely and in accordance with regulations.

On the night of March 14, Mr. Lam Uong's house was chosen as Voting Area No. 23, belonging to Election Unit No. 6 of Tai Van commune (Can Tho City), becoming special when many members of the election team came to be on duty all night. In the lights in front of the house, the task force took turns checking the ballot box area, tables and chairs, and documents serving the election.

To support the task force, Mr. Uong's family prepares instant noodles and cooks chicken porridge for everyone to use after late shifts.

Mr. Uong said that more than a month ago, the commune government came to exchange and borrow houses to arrange polling stations to serve the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term, in order to create favorable conditions for people in the area to participate in the election.

As soon as I heard about borrowing the house, I immediately agreed. It is a great honor for my house to be chosen as a polling station," Mr. Uong shared.

Not only lending the voting venue, his family also prepared more tables and chairs and proactively cooked to serve the forces on duty at the polling station on March 14 and 15. 3.

My family has prepared everything. Being able to contribute a little effort to serve the election day, my family is very happy," Mr. Uong excitedly said.

Representatives of Election Team No. 23 said that on the evening of March 14, members were assigned to be on duty 24/24 hours to ensure security and order, protect the safety of facilities in the polling area combined with information and propaganda for voters in the area about the election. By 6 am on March 15, the polling area will open and begin to welcome voters to exercise their citizen rights.

According to the leader of Tai Van Commune Police (Can Tho City), the entire local police force is arranged to be on duty 24/24 at polling stations to maintain security and order, and at the same time ensure traffic order and safety, not allowing congestion to affect people's voting. Patrol teams are also strengthened to promptly detect and handle violations of the law.

Major Cao Quoc Cong - Head of the security and order protection team at the polling station belonging to Election Team No. 2, Election Unit No. 1, My Tu commune (Can Tho City) - said that the security force was assigned to be on duty all night to ensure absolute safety for the polling station.

We are on duty for security and order in the polling area all night, both protecting facilities and being ready to handle arising situations so that voters can vote conveniently and safely by morning," Major Cong said.

According to the Can Tho City Election Commission, the city has established 103 commune-level election committees; 6 National Assembly deputy election committees; 28 City People's Council deputy election committees and 665 commune-level People's Council deputy election committees, with 2,597 electoral groups serving more than 3.1 million voters.
