On the evening of January 2, the Vietnamese team won the first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final against Thailand with a score of 2-1. Immediately after the team's victory, thousands of fans poured into the streets to celebrate the victory.
According to Lao Dong newspaper reporters in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, all the roads leading to the city center were packed with people and vehicles, some holding flags, some holding trumpets and drums, cheering.
Not forgetting to obey traffic laws, the vast majority of people stopped at red lights at intersections - an impressive image on the evening of January 2, demonstrating that people's awareness has clearly improved after Decree 168/2024/ND-CP was implemented.
Before the match, the Traffic Police force, especially in big cities, also planned and prepared traffic flow and handling measures for those who took advantage of the "storm" to cause disorder and violate traffic laws.
"It is even more admirable that at many intersections, even without direct regulation from the traffic police, people still voluntarily stop their vehicles and remind each other to obey the law, and the bustling celebratory atmosphere is still maintained. Such small actions have contributed to building a safe, modern, and civilized capital," said a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department.
In cases of intentional violations, taking advantage of "storming" to disrupt public order, not obeying the commands of drivers, traffic lights, and violating other regulations that lead to traffic jams and accidents will be strictly handled according to regulations.
In particular, for acts such as running red lights or going the wrong way, violators can be fined (both cars and motorbikes) via the camera surveillance system. People can look up fines on the website of the Traffic Police Department, the Vietnam Register or the local Department of Transport.
According to the traffic police, based on the traffic situation at each time, the driver or traffic controller will regulate and divide the traffic flow, and may allow vehicles to run red lights if it is safe and can resolve the congestion. In this case, traffic participants who follow the instructions of the authorities will not be penalized (including fines).
The Vietnamese team promises to have an exciting return match at Rajamangala, Bangkok on January 5. Authorities recommend that fans who go out to cheer for the team must obey the law and strictly follow traffic safety regulations to multiply the joy many times over.
The second leg final between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium (Thailand).
