General Secretary To Lam receives Ambassador of the Russian Federation

On the afternoon of April 2, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at the positive development of the comprehensive strategic partnership of Vietnam - Russia, especially in the context of 2025 countries to celebrate many important events such as the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, 80 years of fascist victory, 50 years of liberation of the South and unifying the country of Vietnam, 80 years of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always considers Russia one of the top priority partners in foreign policy. Vietnam wishes to maintain good traditional relations, meeting the interests of the two peoples, contributing to maintaining peace, cooperation and development in the two regions and in the world.

General Secretary To Lam acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko and the agencies of the two countries in effectively implementing high-level agreements and bilateral cooperation contents. In particular, recent high-level delegation exchanges such as Russian Prime Minister Mishustin's visit to Vietnam in January 2025 and the visit to Russia by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in early April have demonstrated the deep level of political trust between the two countries. This is also an opportunity for the two sides to exchange, review, evaluate and discuss specific measures to promote comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

To continue improving the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, especially in 2025, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides continue to increase high-level delegation exchanges; cooperate closely at multilateral forums; effectively implement the Vietnam - Europe Free Trade Agreement; identify new directions, measures and cooperation projects in the fields of national defense - security, high technology, energy, nuclear power, basic science, culture - arts and academia.

In the coming time, the two sides also need to focus on and make efforts to effectively implement bilateral agreements, review and completely remove existing problems, thereby expanding and creating a breakthrough in practical cooperation in the relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko affirmed that the Russian Federation considers Vietnam a traditional and priority partner in the Asia-Pacific region and wishes to strengthen traditional friendship and effective cooperation in all areas of mutual concern.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko pledged to continue to promote relevant Russian agencies to cooperate closely with Vietnamese partners to strengthen and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Ambassador and the Embassy of Russia in Vietnam will personally strive to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in the areas of pillar cooperation such as military - security, trade - investment and expanding cooperation to new potential areas.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko also said that on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Russian Embassy in Hanoi will organize many practical activities, reflecting the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Bezdetko agreed that Vietnam -Russia relations have a long traditional foundation, the two countries have overcome many challenges and achieve great achievements. The two countries will be determined to continue promoting traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partners of Vietnam and Russia to go into depth, essence and efficiency, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, friendship and development in the region and around the world.
