At around 11:02 p.m. on April 2, a fire broke out at a house at a resident 14, lane 40 Dang Tran Duc, Thanh Tri ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi. Discovering the fire, people immediately shouted and called to report the fire to 114, and used fire extinguishers and domestic water to put out the initial fire.

Upon receiving the report, the Hanoi City Police Command Information Center dispatched 4 fire trucks and 26 officers and soldiers from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Team (CNCH) of Hoang Mai and Hai Ba Trung districts to the scene.
Determining that someone was trapped inside, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force immediately deployed a fire fighting formation and organized search and rescue. A working group quickly entered the house, checking each room to find the victim. The police rescued Ms. D.T.B. (born in 1998), took the victim out of the fire area while conscious.

However, during the fire fighting and search and rescue, the authorities discovered a victim died on the first floor. The victim was Mr. T.V.G. (SN 1947), with a history of heart disease, old age, weakness, limited mobility. Due to the outbreak of fire at the entrance to the first floor - the house has a tube house structure - he could not escape the emergency exit on the 2nd floor.
At around 11:17 p.m., the fire was completely extinguished.
Hanoi City Police recommends that, to limit damage caused by fire and explosion at night, in addition to equipping vehicles and fire fighting equipment initially as well as arranging reasonable escape routes, households need to install an early fire warning system to detect, organize fire fighting and escape in time.
