On August 9, officers and soldiers of Hai An Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) coordinated with functional forces and authorities of My Thuy commune (Quang Tri province) to support Mr. Dang Viet Tuan's family (Trung An village) to transport and bury 79 pigs, weighing 7,708 kg.
By early August 2025, African swine fever had appeared in 3,813 households, in 408 villages of 46 communes and wards in Quang Tri province, forcing the destruction of nearly 26,000 pigs, equivalent to more than 1,500 tons of live pigs. Faced with complicated developments, communes and wards have synchronously deployed many urgent measures to control the epidemic and limit the spread. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine mobilized 98 sprayers, more than 6,000 liters of detox chemicals, increased professional staff to control slaughter, transportation, and trade of pigs; at the same time, promoted propaganda, hygiene, detoxification, and control of epidemics.
The police forces in Dien Sanh, Hai Lang, Trieu Co, Huong Hiep, Quang Tri ward advised on the establishment of an epidemic prevention and control steering committee at the grassroots level, assigning specific tasks to each force, setting up many quarantine posts on key traffic routes, trails, openings, and border areas. The checkpoints are on duty 24/7 to check, monitor, and strictly handle cases of transportation and trading of pigs and pig products of unknown origin that have not been quarantined.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued a telegram requesting localities to strengthen the management of animal slaughter, strictly handle facilities that violate veterinary hygiene and food safety; assign the Department of Agriculture and Environment to guide disease monitoring, detect early, thoroughly handle outbreaks, tighten the business of pigs and pig products of unknown origin or showing signs of disease.
