On October 28, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung and the working delegation worked with the People's Committee of Dien Bien province.
At the meeting, the leader of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province said that in 2025, due to the impact of heavy rains and floods, the province has arranged stable residents for 244 households in 7 residential areas in the communes: Xa Dung, Tia Dinh, Muong Luan, Na Son... using central reserve capital and support from localities and enterprises.
Currently, households have basically stabilized their housing, and resettlement areas are completing essential infrastructure such as electricity and domestic water.
However, in the province, there are still about 790 households directly affected by natural disasters that need to be relocated and stabilized soon.
The People's Committee of Dien Bien province proposed that the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment soon allocate about 775 billion VND to implement urgent population allocation projects in the communes of Na Son, Muong Luan, Thanh Nua, Quang Lam, Muong Lan, Muong Phang, Muong Cha, Nu Nga, Muong Toong, Sang Nhe...
Regarding the implementation of the Project on population stabilization and socio-economic development of Son La hydropower resettlement area. The province also proposed to soon allocate an additional 165 billion VND to upgrade the road connecting the Tua Chua - Sang Nhe - Ta Huoi Trang resettlement area.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Dien Bien province in focusing resources to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and stabilize the population.
Deputy Minister Vo Van Hung also suggested that Dien Bien province speed up the implementation progress and disbursement of capital for assigned projects; not let people wait too long; focus on planning, selecting reasonable resettlement locations, ensuring long-term livelihoods for people.
The Deputy Minister also noted that it is necessary to continue supporting people in producing key crop varieties and supporting emission reduction programs. Poverty reduction programs and national target programs need to be focused on by the province.
