According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Station, in the coming days, sunny days will be maintained, with thunderstorms in the evening.

In the afternoon of May 18, monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning showed that convective cloud areas are developing strongly, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of wards and communes in the area such as Binh Tien, Vinh Tan, Tan Uyen, Tan Hiep...

In the next few hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing widespread showers and thunderstorms, then it is likely to spread to neighboring areas. Common rainfall is from 5-20 mm, in some places over 30 mm.

During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 6-7 (8-17 m/s). Heavy rain can cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.

Forecast for the next 24-48 hours, a low pressure trough with a Northwest - Southeast axis will operate through the North and the central area of the East Sea. Above, the subtropical high pressure through the South - South Central Coast tends to gradually weaken. Southwest winds in the South Sea area maintain weak intensity.

In the next 3-10 days, the low pressure trough will continue to gradually move south through the Central and Southern East Sea, then weaken around May 22-23. From May 24-25, the possibility of forming a low pressure trough again through the central East Sea area. Southwest winds in the Southern sea area maintain weak to moderate intensity.

Therefore, in the coming days, the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30 mm, locally heavy rain over 80 mm (rain concentrated in the late afternoon and night). From May 22nd onwards, rain will gradually decrease.

The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
