On the afternoon of January 21, a group of workers dismantled the barrier at the intersection of Thang Long Boulevard and Le Quang Dao to prepare for the temporary opening of a section of the Le Quang Dao extended road project.
At the same time, other workers were cleaning the road surface at this intersection. Traffic lights and signs were installed here.
Previously, on January 20, the Hanoi People's Committee agreed in principle to the proposal of the Department of Transport to temporarily put into operation the section from Thang Long Boulevard to the intersection with Dai Mo Street (Road 70), with a length of 1.9km (part of the investment project to build the extended Le Quang Dao Street).
The temporary operation of the above road section will reduce congestion on main roads such as Thang Long Boulevard, Road 70, To Huu, Le Quang Dao and meet the travel needs of people during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
The Hanoi People's Committee also assigned the Department of Transport to preside over and coordinate with the Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee and related units to strictly comply with regulations on operating the lighting system along the entire route and the traffic light system at intersections, ensuring safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.
The Le Quang Dao extended road construction investment project has a total investment of more than 700 billion VND, invested by the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem district, and started construction in February 2023.
The project is 2.6km long, starting at the intersection of Le Quang Dao - Thang Long Avenue (Nam Tu Liem district), ending at Duong Noi Urban Area (Ha Dong district).
The route has a typical cross-section of 40m, accommodating 6 lanes.
Currently, the 1.9km long section from the Thang Long Boulevard intersection to the intersection with Dai Mo Street (Road 70) has been basically completed.
The remaining 0.7km section is currently being accelerated by the contractor. According to the contract signed between the investor and the contractor, the entire project will be completed in May 2025, after 27 months of construction.
The investment project to build the extended Le Quang Dao road, when completed, will help shorten travel time between Nam Tu Liem and Ha Dong districts, reduce traffic pressure on many routes in the area, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the capital.
