According to the Binh Giang District Labor Federation, Giai My Wood Products Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited, headquartered in Vinh Hung Commune (Binh Giang District, Hai Duong Province), currently has 234 workers and employees (December 2024 data).
Of these, 84 workers and laborers are from Hai Duong, the remaining 150 workers and laborers are from Hung Yen, Yen Bai, Son La, Dien Bien, Thanh Hoa provinces... The company has established a grassroots union with 132 union members since December 2024.
Through understanding the actual situation, the Standing Committee of the Binh Giang District Labor Federation learned that the company had paid salaries to workers until the end of November 2024 and paid social insurance until the end of September 2024; had an appointment with workers and employees on January 20, 2025 to pay salaries for December 2024 (the total salary for December of workers and employees is about 1.2 billion VND) and transferred social insurance from October to December 2024.
However, by 4:00 p.m. on January 20, 2025, the Binh Giang District Labor Federation recorded that the company had not paid salaries to workers and had not transferred social insurance money.
Currently, there are about 50 workers and laborers still staying in Binh Giang district; 60 workers and laborers have returned to their hometowns, the rest are working at other companies.
According to the Binh Giang District Labor Federation, immediately after receiving information that the company owed workers their December 2024 wages, the District Labor Federation went directly to the company headquarters to grasp the situation; coordinated with relevant agencies: Police, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, District Social Insurance to grasp information, developments of the situation and ensure security and order, propagate and mobilize workers and laborers to return, not gather in large numbers at the company headquarters. By 5:30 p.m. on January 20, 2025, workers and laborers had left.
At the same time, the Binh Giang District Labor Federation reported in writing to the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee to direct relevant agencies and units to jointly handle the matter.
On the afternoon of January 20 and the morning of January 21, at the request of the District Labor Federation, the People's Committee of Binh Giang District (Hai Duong Province) held two meetings, convening agencies: Police, Social Insurance, District Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the person in charge of Administration and Personnel, the person in charge of logistics, accountant, and the Chairman of the Company's Trade Union to direct agencies and units to coordinate in handling the situation.
According to the direction of the District People's Committee, the source of money to pay the December 2024 salary for basic workers has been agreed by the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to transfer about 700 million VND to the company; the person who leased the factory to the company lent 500 million VND.
According to the representative of the Human Resources Administration Department, the company has sent the payroll to the head office to request approval for salary payment to workers, and is expected to pay December 2024 salary to workers and employees on January 23 or 24, 2025.
On the side of the District Labor Union, they promptly supported Tet gifts for 174 workers and laborers present at the company with the amount of 87 million VND. After understanding the feelings, the workers and laborers were very excited because they received timely attention and care from the Union at all levels.
Binh Giang District Labor Federation will continue to monitor and grasp the payment of December 2024 salary to workers to promptly report to the Provincial Labor Federation, District Party Committee, and District People's Committee for direction.
Coordinate with the district's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to review cases of workers and laborers who have not found jobs to support them in finding new jobs.
