Forecast of the time of a new widespread rain in the South

According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 2-3 days, thunderstorms will increase again.

In the afternoon of July 7, monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning data showed that convective cloud areas are developing strongly, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City, including Phu My ward, Binh Khanh commune, An Thoi Dong commune, Can Gio commune, Nha Be commune...

In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in the above-mentioned localities, then it is likely to expand to neighboring areas. Common rainfall is from 5-20 mm, in some places over 30 mm. In thunderstorms, it is necessary to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s) and the risk of localized flooding due to heavy rain.

The weather pattern causing thunderstorms is due to the hot low pressure area in the West expanding and developing to the Southeast, combined with an upper wind convergence zone formed in the Southern region. The Southwest monsoon maintains medium intensity, creating favorable conditions for convective clouds to develop and cause thunderstorms.

Weather pattern forecast for the next 24-48 hours, the Southwest monsoon tends to decrease slightly but still maintains average intensity. Above, the subtropical high pressure with the southern branch passing through the South China Sea continues to operate stably.

Forecast from 3-10 days, around July 8-9, the possibility of forming a low pressure trough with axis passing through the Northern region. The Southwest monsoon continues to operate at medium intensity and tends to gradually strengthen from July 9. Above, the southern branch of the subtropical high pressure still maintains stable activity, then weakens and gradually recedes to the East around July 8-9.

Due to the influence of the above weather patterns, the Southern region will be cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in some places; especially in the late afternoon and evening, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain in some places. From around July 9-10, the area is forecast to enter a period of increasing rain.
