On July 6, a serious dam breach incident occurred at a reservoir in Hengzhou, Nanning city, Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi, southern China, forcing local authorities to immediately raise the emergency response level, Xinhua reported.
Accordingly, the Liulan reservoir, a medium-sized irrigation project in the area, recorded a dam breach incident. To respond, emergency management, fire and rescue, and local water resources agencies have been mobilized for rescue and relief work, while the evacuation of affected residents is underway.
Faced with the serious flood situation, the city has raised the level of emergency response for flood prevention and control from level III to level I, effective from 11:30 am on July 6.
Nanning City Emergency Management Board issued a notice stating that since the previous day, most of the city area has experienced torrential rain, with some places experiencing unusual extreme rains.
