Red address to the source
During these historic August days, the number of visitors to the Tan Trao National Historical Site increased more than usual, averaging more than 2,000 people per day. In fact, Tan Trao has become a tourist destination chosen by many people on their journey to the source and to learn about history.
Ms. Le Anh (Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang) said that this was the second time she brought her children back to visit Tan Trao right at the time of the August Revolution anniversary. The historical relics are still carefully preserved, while the countryside and people's lives have changed, houses and roads are more spacious.
"Tan Trao is not too far away, and traveling is much more convenient now. I let my children come here to learn more about history. In addition to book knowledge, practical experiences like this are very meaningful. The people here are also friendly, the air is fresh, and close to nature," Ms. Le Anh shared.
The increase in tourists to Tan Trao has also helped develop accommodation services, bringing income to many families. The restaurant of Mr. Hoang Van Nhien (Tan Lap village, Tan Trao commune) is only a few steps away from the Tan Trao Banyan Tree relic and has long been loved and chosen by tourists. For more than 15 years, serving food and accommodation to tourists has become the main occupation of the whole family.
Mr. Nhien said: "Due to the stable number of guests, in 2020, the family invested in building a new stilt house to serve tourists. This August, guests have to book a month in advance to have a place on the weekend. Every year, the accommodation business also brings in over 300 million VND in revenue for the family. Now the whole village has 5 restaurants and more than a dozen homestays."
Turning relics into resources
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province, the province currently has 660 historical, cultural and scenic relics, including 271 provincial relics, 182 national relics, 3 special national relics, and 1 national treasure. The locality advocates developing many types of tourism, with special priority given to source tourism, promoting the value of revolutionary historical relics.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province said that the Tan Trao and Kim Binh relic complex (in Chiem Hoa district, where the 2nd Congress of the Party took place in 1951) has become a red address for the source, a center for educating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, and national pride.
"Over the years, programs to visit the source, offer incense, and experience historical relics in Tuyen Quang have been loved by many tourists. We are promoting the application of digital technology in building a database to manage, preserve, exploit, and promote the value of revolutionary historical relics. At the same time, we are increasing promotion to attract tourists," said Mr. Hoa.
In 2023, the entire Tuyen Quang province welcomed over 2.6 million tourists, with revenue reaching over 3,200 billion VND. Of which, tourists visiting historical revolutionary sites accounted for nearly half, especially the Tan Trao relic site welcoming over 800,000 visitors.
