Regarding the case " After nearly 1 year, fish died white on the lake surface and canal banks in Da Nang ", Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has reported on the situation of dead fish at Hoa Phu lake (still remaining). called Lien Chieu regulation reservoir) and channel B18.
At 6:00 a.m. on July 22, Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company (Company) discovered dead fish in Hoa Phu lake and B18 canal in large numbers. The company has informed relevant units to coordinate on site inspection.
At the scene, the water at Hoa Phu Lake was black and had a foul smell. The company conducted a trace and discovered black wastewater with a strong odor pouring from the open ditch upstream of the landfill. Then it intersects with the treated wastewater of the landfill and flows downstream.
In the canal section from Sup culvert (exit 511 Hoang Van Thai street, Lien Chieu district) to Pham Thi Lam Anh street culvert (Lien Chieu district), the water is brown and has a foul smell.
The water in Da Co canal is black. Channel B18's water is black and has a foul smell. At the time of inspection, no wastewater was detected from the outlets pouring into Hoa Phu lake.
To preliminarily assess water quality, the Company took 2 samples for analysis including: 1 sample at Hoa Phu lake and 1 sample at canal B18.
In the immediate future, to promptly respond to possible environmental incidents and minimize odors, the Company has arranged forces and tools to salvage all the dead fish floating on Hoa Phu Lake and the canal. B18.
On July 22, 2024, the Company salvaged 4 boats with a volume of about 10 tons of dead fish and transported them to Khanh Son landfill for burial.
Spread lime on fish carcasses and areas with floating scum to minimize odors. The volume of implementation is 500kg/day, carried out from July 22 to 28 (about 3.5 tons of lime) throughout Hoa Phu lake and B18 canal along Ha Hoi street (Lien Chieu district).
During the implementation process, the Company closely monitors developments in water environment quality and fish deaths to promptly adjust the frequency, volume and use of mineralization in accordance with the actual situation.
