Street vendors are handled wherever they are wrong. And this is a very necessary action to ensure urban order and law enforcement. But what the public is most concerned about in the case is not these two violations.
Previously, social networks were buzzing with a clip recording the scene of a tourist reflecting that the durian was only about 1.5 - 1.7kg, but the seller at Son Tra night market weighed it to 4kg to calculate the price. When the customer requested to weigh it again, the seller not only reacted harshly but also had inappropriate words.
If it is true as reflected, then this is a behavior that deserves to be condemned and must be strictly handled because it damages the trust of tourists in the local tourism image.
Therefore, what people are waiting for is not only a decision to sanction the act of street vendors or stopping vehicles in violation of regulations, but also a clear conclusion about the suspicion of fraud by durian sellers.
What is noteworthy in this case is that the Da Nang government reacted very quickly. Immediately after the clip appeared, functional forces invited the seller to work. The City People's Committee also requested to strengthen inspections of street vendor activities in tourist areas, handle the situation of soliciting, trade fraud, uncivilized behavior and encroachment on roads and sidewalks.
That determination is necessary, because for a city living by tourism like Da Nang, each reflection of tourists can directly impact the image of the destination.
More importantly, we cannot let the behavior of a few individuals cast a shadow over the legitimate business community. Because behind the Da Nang tourism brand are tens of thousands of people making a living with kindness in all fields.
If fraud cases are not clarified and handled strictly, they will be the first to suffer when tourists' trust is eroded.
A clip lasting less than a minute can spread to millions of people, overshadowing the promotional efforts built over many years. The reputation of a destination is sometimes nurtured for a long time, but can be affected by just one dishonest act.
Therefore, building a civilized tourism environment is not just about clearing street vendors or restoring order on sidewalks. More importantly, it is about building a culture of honest business, civilized behavior and transparent handling mechanisms so that tourists feel that their rights are always protected.
A scale is originally only used to determine the weight of a durian. But in the eyes of tourists, it is also a measure of the honesty of the seller and the management efficiency of local authorities.
Don't let a scale distort the image of tourism that so many people have painstakingly built.
