After nearly 1 year of implementing the 2-level local government model, Gia Lai province has recorded many positive results in the fields of socio-economics, national defense - security, creating a foundation for a new development stage.
The administrative apparatus has been streamlined, reducing intermediate levels, and shortening the processing process from province to grassroots level. Currently, the whole province operates stably with 14 provincial-level specialized agencies and 135 commune-level administrative units, a reduction of 238 commune-level units after the merger.
Institutional clearance has created momentum for economic growth. In the first quarter of 2026, Gia Lai's GRDP increased by 8.51% compared to the same period last year, ranking 16th in the country and leading the South Central Coast - Central Highlands region.
With the spirit of "close to the people, close to reality", the Provincial People's Committee promotes decentralization and delegation of power to departments, branches and localities. To date, the province has approved the decentralization of 56 administrative procedures and authorized 317 procedures, contributing to reducing intermediaries, shortening dossier processing time, and improving the proactiveness of commune-level governments.
As of May 10, 2026, the province's "Serving People and Businesses" index reached 95.61 points, at an excellent level - a figure clearly reflecting the operating efficiency of the new apparatus.
The province has deployed the Virtual Assistant System for officials and civil servants in all departments, branches, and localities to provide professional and nghiệp vụ support; organized 23 classes of the "Simple AI Academic" movement, helping more than 10,500 young officials and union members access and apply AI tools in their work.
Nearly 1 year of operating the 2-level local government model is proof of innovative thinking, creativity and the spirit of daring to think and dare to do of the Gia Lai provincial government. This is also the foundation for the locality to enter a period of rapid and sustainable development, continuing to consolidate the trust of people and businesses.
In the period 2026-2030, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has identified strategic solutions to improve comprehensive management capacity, towards building a service, modern and development-enabling administration.
The focus is on focusing on perfecting institutions, improving coordination efficiency; consolidating the organizational structure associated with job positions; modernizing the administrative system in the direction of "no paperwork"; ensuring resources and preferential treatment for cadres and civil servants.
