On the afternoon of June 25, a leader of the People's Committee of Ayun Pa town said that the unit is directing the authorities to clarify the case of cutting down and selling many trees in the premises of the People's Committee of Cheo Reo ward before the merger and operation of the two-level government.
According to records, many 20-year-old cajuput trees in the Cheo Reo Ward People's Committee headquarters, Ayun Pa town, were suddenly cut down.
In which, many trees have a base diameter of 60-70cm. Some trees are even 1m in diameter. Many trees after being cut down were transported elsewhere, leaving only a few small pieces of wood.
According to Mr. Duong Ngoc Dung - Chairman of Cheo Reo Ward People's Committee, the sawing was carried out with the consent of the Party Committee of the Ward People's Committee, agreeing to sell these trees to get funding for activities.
7-8 trees were cut down, selling for about 8 million VND. The buyer of this wood resides in Ia Hiao commune, Phu Thien district, Gia Lai province.
According to Mr. Dung, in recent days, due to the rainy weather, there was a risk of trees breaking and falling, so they agreed to cut down and replace them with banyan trees.
The case is currently being further clarified by the People's Committee of Ayun Pa town.
