Kien Giang Provincial Police said that so far, they have completed all procedures to review and approve prisoners who meet the conditions and standards for the Central Advisory Council on Amnesty to review and issue amnesty decisions. This is a major policy of important political significance, affirming the leniency policy of the Party, the State and the humanitarian tradition of our nation towards convicted criminals who repent, actively study and work to reform.
Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police said: The Provincial Police have established a Steering Committee on amnesty in 2024, which focuses on inspecting and controlling the process of organizing and implementing propaganda work as well as the work of making amnesty records.
“During the review process at the local and provincial amnesty proposal review councils, 14 cases were unanimously proposed for amnesty. These cases all met the conditions and were assessed by the Central Amnesty Council’s Appraisal Team and achieved high and accurate results, ensuring transparency and objectivity, without missing any cases,” Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong informed.
Lieutenant Colonel Quang Quoc Huy - Warden of the Kien Giang Provincial Police Detention Camp said: Previously, the Camp also organized propaganda, dissemination, and dissemination to all prisoners serving prison sentences at the sub-camp about the humane and lenient policies and guidelines of the Party and State. Conducted public and specific posting of regulations, instructions, and criteria for special amnesty in 2024 so that each prisoner could understand. The Camp organized a review, created records, and allowed eligible prisoners to register and write applications for special amnesty...
As one of 14 prisoners considered for amnesty on September 2 this year, prisoner HHS (born in 1989), from An Bien district, shared: "The days of serving my sentence in the Detention Center were also a precious time for me to re-evaluate the value of life. I always received encouragement from the Board of Supervisors, prison officers, the care and love of my family... helping me regain my spirit of determination to reform well. When I learned that I was considered for amnesty, I was very happy and looked forward to returning to my family every day."
In order to prepare prisoners for their reintegration into the community, in recent times, the Kien Giang Provincial Police Detention Center has organized to equip prisoners with basic knowledge and skills so that when they are pardoned and return to the community, they can eliminate their inferiority complex, do honest work, not re-offend, and strive to become useful citizens for their families and society.
For prisoners who do not meet the criteria for special amnesty this time, propaganda and education will also be provided to help them better understand the lenient and humane policies of our Party and State. This will help them feel secure in their rehabilitation, strive to work, study, and comply with the regulations of the detention facility so that they can soon be granted special amnesty, return to their families, and integrate into society.
