Ha Tinh is actively preparing plans to prevent and combat storm No. 4.

On September 18, according to information from the Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone with an axis through the North and Central Central regions, the province will have moderate rain, some places will have heavy rain to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. The common rainfall is 30 - 60mm, some places over 80mm.

From the evening of September 18 to September 21, Ha Tinh area is likely to experience widespread heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-300mm, in some places over 500mm.

According to the units managing and operating the reservoirs, the water level in the reservoirs in Ha Tinh is currently quite low, so in case of heavy rain with forecast rainfall of up to 500mm, it is likely not a cause for concern for the reservoirs and dams in Ha Tinh.

Responding to the press, Mr. Ong Van Thang - Deputy Head of the Department of Investment Management and Irrigation Construction 4 (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) - the unit responsible for managing and operating Ngan Truoi Lake, said: The water level in the lake is quite low and can still hold more than 600 million m3, so the rainfall this time will add water to the lake to serve agricultural irrigation, people's daily life and supply to the hydropower plant.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Manh Cuong - Director of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited informed: With the forecasted rainfall in the province of up to 500mm, "it is not a worrying problem".

Other reservoirs in Ha Tinh are also in a state of low water levels, so with the forecast rainfall of 500mm, there is “no problem”. With small reservoirs and dams, in case of heavy rain, the water is full and can overflow by itself.

With forecasts of big waves and strong winds at sea, Ha Tinh authorities are actively announcing and calling on ships to seek safe shelter.

According to statistics from the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command, the province currently has 3,651 vessels with 10,666 workers. As of the morning of September 18, the total number of ships not at sea and anchored at ports and yards was 3,643 vessels with 10,633 workers; the number of vessels operating at sea was 8 vessels with 33 workers.

In addition, the number of vessels anchored at Vung Ang – Son Duong port is 80 with 414 crew members. Of which, 11 are transport ships with 145 crew members; 61 are dredging construction ships with 208 crew members; 8 are tugboats with 46 crew members.

To proactively respond to the storm situation, the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command has been actively coordinating with functional units and local authorities to notify families of ship owners and captains about the developments of the tropical depression and dangerous weather at sea to have a plan for safe production, at the same time, directing watchtowers to notify vehicles operating at sea, requesting them to move away from the effects of the tropical depression.

Faced with the unusual developments of storm No. 4, according to recommendations from the industry, aquaculture farmers need to proactively take measures to prevent and combat heavy rain, storms, and floods, especially in areas at risk of flooding and flash floods.

Currently, seafood farming households have been actively anchoring cages and moving them to safe places; reinforcing and repairing pond banks and water intake culverts to limit damage and landslides that cause product loss, especially in shrimp farming areas on sand.
