On May 13, the Team for Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of Economic - National Defense Team 337 (Military Region 4) said that the unit had just discovered and exhumed 1 more martyr's remains in the Cha Ly mountain stream area, Cup village, Huong Lap commune, Quang Tri province.
The martyr's remains were found at a depth of about 1.2m, located next to an old bomb crater in a rugged mountainous area.
During the exhumation process, the exhumation force discovered many accompanying artifacts such as nylon bags to wrap the remains, parachute straps, a female leather belt with an aluminum belt surface and 3 buttons for shirts and pants.
Immediately after completing exhumation work at the scene, the Team for Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of Economic - National Defense Team 337 brought the martyrs' remains to the storage area for incense offering, preservation and to serve the work of verifying identities according to regulations.
In parallel with that, the task force continued to expand the search area in the Cha Ly mountain stream area to discover more martyrs' graves still located in the deep forest.
According to the Repatriation Team of Martyrs' remains of Economic - National Defense Team 337, Cha Ly area has rugged terrain, complex mountains and forests, making it difficult to access the scene and organize searches. However, the unit still maintains forces at the scene to deploy repatriation work.
To date, in the Cha Ly mountainous forest area, the repatriation force has discovered and exhumed 8 sets of remains of martyrs.
The work of searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains in mountainous forest areas in Quang Tri province is still being regularly deployed by military units to bring the martyrs back to their comrades and families.
