The People's Committee of Vinh Linh district (Quang Tri province) on May 5 said that from April 29 to now, people in Trung Nam commune have continuously recorded the appearance of a herd of storks with hundreds of cows in the rice field area of Huynh Cong Dong village.
Through observation, the herd of storks was light gray with black and white, weighing an average of about 1kg per cow. This is the first time in Trung Nam commune that a large number of storks have appeared and have been in residence for a long time.

The People's Committee of Trung Nam commune said that immediately after receiving the information, the local authorities directed the authorities to monitor and at the same time advise people not to hunt, set traps or chase the storks. Protection work has been deployed to ensure the bird flock has a safe shelter environment.
Previously, in early April 2025, a similar herd of storks was also discovered in Cam Lo district (Quang Tri province), residing in the cajuput forests in this locality.
It is known that the snakehead crow (also known as the snail crow) is a rare wild bird, currently listed in the Vietnam Red Book. They often live in mangrove forests or places with many ponds, fields with abundant food.
