After the article in Lao Dong Newspaper "A series of street light poles have been cut off from electric wires" from October 22nd to now, this situation has not been overcome.
Mr. Tr.M.T in Long Chau ward said that the situation of street lights not operating for a long time causes many consequences, especially dangerous when traveling at night on low-light roads.
According to Mr. Tr.M.T, lack of lighting poses a risk of traffic accidents, social evils, and directly affects the safety of people in the area.
In addition, Mr. Tr.M.T reflected that many light poles are "embezzled", leaving the power cord core exposed, not only causing budget waste but also damaging the urban aesthetics of the road.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Phan Chi Cuong - Deputy Director of Vinh Long Provincial Traffic Project Management Board has official information about the current situation and specific handling plans.
Accordingly, the Vo Van Kiet road project has a total investment of about 1,491 billion VND. The 3.6 km long road passes through Long Chau, Truong An and Tan Ngai wards of Vinh Long city (before the merger). The lighting system is installed and completed on the section of road more than 2.2 km long under packages No. 2 and No. 4.
In total, there are 194 street lights and 51 decorative lights. However, up to now, about 70% of street lights (equivalent to 135 lights) have had their power lines stolen. More seriously, nearly 100% of decorative lights (51 lights) have also been stolen.
The investor said that he has repeatedly reported the situation to the City People's Committee, City Police and wards (before the merger) to coordinate in maintaining security and order, but has not resolved it thoroughly.
Although the theft situation in the early stages decreased after reporting to the authorities, then theft continued complicatedly, causing heavy damage to the lighting system.
To resolve it thoroughly, the unit has invited relevant parties to conduct actual surveys and agree on a repair plan. The investor also requested the police to strengthen patrols and strictly handle it.
Currently, the Project Management Board has worked with the construction unit, agreeing to complete the overcoming of the existing problems before January 15, 2026 to hand them over to the local authorities for management and operation.
