On June 25, information from the People's Committee of Bac Nha Trang ward said that the wastewater pipe burst incident in the Ru Ri pass overpass area has been handled.
Previously, on June 24, people discovered that the wastewater pipe in the above area was broken, causing wastewater to flow out, creating white foam and a foul odor.
Immediately after receiving the feedback, Mr. Le Dai Duong - Chairman of Bac Nha Trang Ward People's Committee directed relevant units to inspect and deploy a plan to overcome the incident.
According to initial information from local authorities, the amount of wastewater flowing into the Ru Ri pass overpass area is due to a broken wastewater pipe.
This pipeline system is managed by the Nha Trang Wastewater System Management Board, the operating unit is Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company.
After that, Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company turned off the pump to serve the treatment and repair of the broken point on the pipeline.
Currently, functional agencies are continuing to investigate and verify the cause of the pipeline burst incident mentioned above.
The Ru Ri pass area was once known as the place with the Ru Ri landfill - an open landfill located near the Luong Hoa landfill area.
In 2014, the Nha Trang City Environmental Sanitation Improvement Project Management Board (now the Provincial Development Project Management Board) closed the landfill.
However, because the bottom layer of the landfill cannot be thoroughly renovated, leachate still arises and is collected into the Ru Ri pumping pit, then pumped to the Luong Hoa leachate treatment station for treatment along with leachate at the Luong Hoa landfill.
In the rainy season, the amount of leachate from the Ru Ri area mixed with rainwater can increase the water flow to be treated, exceeding the capacity of Luong Hoa Leachate Treatment Plant, leading to the risk of environmental impact if not controlled.
