At about 3 pm on July 4, functional agencies of Quang Ninh province received information about 2 ships drifting in the sea area of Mui Ngoc, Mong Cai 1 ward.
At this time, the Mong Cai area is affected by storm No. 1, bad weather, heavy rain, and big waves.
Immediately after receiving the news, functional forces of Quang Ninh province urgently deployed forces and vehicles ready to rescue ships in distress.
The two drifting vehicles include a sea sand transport ship, with 2 crew members on board; a container ship, with 1 crew member on board.
According to information from functional agencies, the health and spirit of the 3 crew members on the 2 ships are currently stable. There are still enough food, life jackets and necessary safety equipment on the vehicles. Communication with the crew members is maintained smoothly.
However, due to heavy rain and high waves in the area, rescue vehicles have not been able to approach the drifting ships.
Currently, the Riverine Police Team, Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police; forces under the Department of Agriculture and Environment; Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control; Provincial Border Guard; People's Committee and Mong Cai 1 Ward Police are coordinating to deploy rescue plans as soon as weather conditions permit.
