In August 2026, functional agencies of Khanh Hoa province received citizens' feedback about the appearance of commercial activities taking tourists to visit, catch fish and see corals in the My Tan, My Hiep area (Vinh Hai commune).
The reflected content expressed concern that in the process of organizing services, visitors may trample and break coral reefs, directly affecting coral reefs and threatening marine ecosystems.
Immediately after receiving the information, on August 17, the inter-sectoral working group of Vinh Hai commune directly inspected the scene and worked with the person being reported, Mr. P.H. Q (born in 1996, farmer, residing in My Phong village, Vinh Hai commune).
At the meeting, Mr. P.H. Q presented that he is a local farmer, does not register and does not organize business in sightseeing and commercial tourism services; does not sell tours or collect any fees from customers.
According to Mr. Q, at the beginning of August 2026, he posted tide schedule information on his personal Facebook page.
Knowing the appropriate tide time, some friends contacted and asked him to take them to the My Tan area for sightseeing.
The group consisted of 11 people (5 people from Phan Rang and 6 people from Ho Chi Minh City). Mr. Q led the group of friends to visit for about 60 minutes and then returned.
He affirmed that this is completely a personal friend activity, not a business tour.
Regarding the suspicion of acts of destroying the marine environment, Mr. Q affirmed that the information reflecting him and his group of friends trampling and breaking corals is completely untrue.
After working with the inspection team, Mr. P.H. Q signed a commitment to strictly comply with regulations on environmental protection, coral reef protection and marine ecosystems.
Recording the results of the actual inspection, Vinh Hai Commune People's Committee said that in case there are no other documents or evidence to prove the reflected content, the locality will consider answering citizens according to the verification results at the scene.
In the coming time, the local government will continue to propagate and remind Mr. P.H. Q and all people in the area to strictly comply with legal regulations on environmental protection, marine ecosystems and marine resources.
