On the morning of June 23, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of Thien Nhan Commune People's Committee, Nghe An province, said that up to now, functional forces have controlled the forest fire that occurred in the area.
The fire has been extinguished. However, to be sure, this morning the locality continued to send brothers to check the fire points, thoroughly extinguish the ashes, because the wind this morning is still strong," said the leader of Thien Nhan Commune People's Committee.

Previously, at about 2 pm on June 21, a fire suddenly broke out in the vegetation area on the hill in hamlet 3, Khanh Son, Thien Nhan commune. Initially, the fire appeared on a small scale, then quickly spread due to intense hot weather, high temperature, combined with strong southwest foehn wind blowing.
By the evening of June 21, the fire was still raging fiercely on the hillsides. Local authorities have coordinated with the Army, Police, Forest Rangers, Fire and Rescue Police Department and people to organize firefighting overnight.
Because the area where the fire occurred has hilly terrain, access is difficult, the ground cover is thick, and strong winds make firefighting work difficult. At times, the fire spread quickly, with the risk of spreading to neighboring areas.

On June 22, the Military Command of Nghe An province mobilized hundreds more officers and soldiers to participate in firefighting. The forces organized many approaches, cleared vegetation, opened firebreaks, cordoned off the scene and handled the remaining fire points to control the fire.
On the morning of June 22, Mr. Vo Trong Hai - Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee - was directly present at the scene of the forest fire in Thien Nhan commune to direct firefighting work. Provincial leaders requested forces to urgently deploy plans to control the fire, prevent the fire from continuing to spread, and at the same time ensure safety for firefighters and people in the surrounding area.
By the afternoon of June 22, the forest fire was still continuing at some points.
According to the leader of Thien Nhan Commune People's Committee, the locality has not yet statistically determined the area of forest burned. The area where the fire occurred was burned about 5-7 years ago, currently mainly reeds and vegetation, so the fire spread quickly.
In recent days, the Central region has experienced a widespread heat wave, and the risk of forest fires in many localities has increased. Functional agencies recommend that people be vigilant, do not burn vegetation, and do not use fire in and along forests during prolonged heat waves, in order to limit the risk of forest fires.
