On the morning of June 8, Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Huyen - Chairwoman of Phuc Loc Commune People's Committee, Nghe An province - said that functional forces are continuing to be on duty at the forest fire area in Ru Xuan, hamlet 19, Phuc Loc commune to inspect and thoroughly handle, not to let the fire flare up again.
Previously, on the afternoon of June 7, a forest fire appeared in the Ru Xuan area. Immediately after discovering the incident, local authorities mobilized hundreds of people including police, military, militia, youth union, forest rangers, functional forces and a large number of people to participate in firefighting.
Due to hot weather, dry vegetation, and the fire area is located in a forest terrain, approaching and extinguishing the fire was difficult. After many hours of effort, the fire was basically controlled.
However, on the night of June 7, the fire suddenly flared up again. Local authorities continued to mobilize forces to urgently deploy measures to isolate the fire, clear firebreaks, and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring areas.
By about 10 pm on the same day, the fire was controlled. Currently, functional forces are still on duty at the scene, checking damage and handling points that are still at risk of smoldering, ensuring absolute safety for the forest area.
According to the leader of Phuc Loc Commune People's Committee, the area where the fire occurred is people's acacia forest, belonging to the production forest area. The cause of the fire and the damage area are being inspected and clarified by functional agencies.
Over the past time, intense heat has continuously occurred in Nghe An province, the temperature has increased, and the risk of forest fires in many localities is always high. Functional agencies recommend that people be vigilant, absolutely do not use fire in the forest or near the forest, and promptly report to the authorities when detecting signs of forest fires.
