Son La Forest Protection Department receives golden mountain turtles from people

    Son La - May 6, Forest Protection Department of Region XV said that it had just received a rare golden mountain turtle individual voluntarily handed over by people.

    Previously, on May 5, the Forest Protection Department of Region XV - Ta Xua Special-Use Forest Management Board received a golden mountain turtle individual (scientific name Indotestudo elongata), a rare land turtle belonging to Group IIB according to the Government's regulations.

    The turtle individual was discovered by people in Chieu village, Muong Coi commune (former Muong Thai commune) in the rice field area and proactively contacted functional agencies to hand it over.

    After receiving it, the forest ranger force checked the health status, prepared a dossier and implemented handling steps according to regulations to ensure that the turtle individual is cared for, conserved and soon re-released to a suitable natural environment.
