Previously, the family of Mr. Tran Van Thao, Na Ha II village, Chieng Mung commune discovered a monkey straying into the residential area. Realizing that this was a wild animal, the family proactively arrested it safely and quickly handed it over to functional agencies according to regulations.

The monkey individual is identified as the yellow macaque (Macaca mulatta) - a forest animal belonging to Group IIB according to Circular No. 85/2025/TT-BNNMT on the management of endangered, precious, and rare species and the implementation of the International Convention on the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
Currently, this species is facing the risk of decline due to hunting, illegal trade and habitat loss.
After completing the procedures, the Forest Protection Department of Region XII coordinated with the Economic Security Department, Son La Provincial Police and Chieng Mung Commune Police to hand over the monkey to Muong La Nature Reserve to release back into the forest.
