Ho Chi Minh City - New bus stops with striking blue tones, modern design and many smart utilities are being installed in the center.

At noon on July 25, reporters recorded on Pasteur street that workers are urgently completing the final stages of the new bus shelter model.

After completing the installation of the main structure, workers continue to paste decals guiding the use of public transport. The entire item is expected to be completed within the day.

Compared to previous waiting house models, the new design has a striking blue color scheme, a neat, modern design and is suitable for areas with narrow sidewalks but still ensures full functionality to serve passengers.

Notably, in addition to the function of shielding from rain and sun, the waiting room will also be integrated with a series of technology utilities such as an LCD screen displaying bus route information in real time, LED lighting system, nighttime identification board, security surveillance cameras and USB and Type-C charging ports for passengers to charge electronic devices.

Sitting waiting for the bus at the new station, Mr. Nguyen Duc highly appreciated the design of the project. "I really like the blue color of the waiting area because it creates a youthful, modern feeling, looking much more beautiful than the old stations. Installing phone charging ports is also very convenient" - Mr. Duc shared.

However, according to Mr. Duc, Ho Chi Minh City is a destination for many international tourists, so the information boards at the waiting room should be designed bilingually Vietnamese - English so that tourists can easily look up bus route information.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center, this is a completely new waiting house model developed from the previous N03 design but improved in a more modern direction, optimized for areas with limited land.

In the coming time, the Center will continue to survey and select suitable locations to replicate this waiting house model, gradually improving infrastructure quality and improving people's experience when using buses.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction issued a decision announcing 3 new bus stop models throughout the city.

Model N01, about 6 m long, is arranged in locations with narrow sidewalks or many green trees; model N02, about 12 m long, is for the central area, squares, tourist attractions and metro stations - places with large passenger traffic; model N03, less than 5 m long, is applied in locations with limited space.

From July 1 to the end of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City will implement free tickets on 134 bus routes, including 109 subsidized routes and 25 non-subsidized routes.

According to statistics as of July 23, the network of 134 free bus routes has served more than 6.3 million passengers, an increase of 38% compared to the same period in 2025.

Not only exempting tickets, Ho Chi Minh City also simultaneously invests in synchronous infrastructure to improve the quality of public passenger transport services.

In addition to installing new bus shelters, in July, the covered walkways connecting the bus station and 7 stations of Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) are being completed and put into operation.

The roofing system helps passengers conveniently transfer between buses and the metro, limiting the effects of sudden heat and rain, and improving the experience of using public transport.
