On December 6, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that it had just issued a document directing the organization of traffic flow for passenger cars with more than 29 seats during rush hour entering Nha Trang city.
Recently, all departments and agencies have assessed that traffic congestion on central routes in Nha Trang City is still complicated.
Especially the routes with schools cause serious traffic jams when entering and leaving school every time there are passenger cars with more than 29 seats passing through the school gate; the central routes have many restaurants, hotels, agencies, offices...
Based on this reality, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee agreed on the policy of banning all passenger cars with more than 29 seats (including vehicles with "Tourist Car" badges) from entering Nha Trang city center within the time frame and scope proposed by the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee.
According to the proposal of the Traffic Safety Committee of Khanh Hoa province, the locality will ban all passenger cars with more than 29 seats (including vehicles with the "Tourist Car" badge) from entering Nha Trang city center from 6:30-7:30 am; in the afternoon from 4:30-6:30 pm; limited area from the East of Le Hong Phong street to Tran Phu street and from the South of Cai River to the North of Binh Tan bridge.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Nha Trang City is assigned to organize and implement the plan according to its authority and in accordance with legal regulations; organize propaganda and guide vehicles to properly comply with regulations on traffic flow organization, ensuring no traffic congestion in the city.
This is not the first time Khanh Hoa province has decided to ban passenger vans with more than 29 seats from entering the center of Nha Trang city.
The most recent time was in 2020, Khanh Hoa province had a policy of banning the above mentioned. However, this policy was met with many petitions from tourism businesses before this policy was abolished at the end of 2022.
In early 2023, some cruise ships to Nha Trang canceled or changed their trips because many routes in the city were banned from vehicles with more than 29 seats during rush hour.
These businesses believe that banning vehicles with more than 29 seats from circulating is unreasonable, causing difficulties and increasing costs for businesses at a time when the locality is making efforts to restore the tourism industry - the province's spearhead economic sector.
After that, Khanh Hoa province agreed to allow tourist vehicles with more than 29 seats to enter Nha Trang city center but must have a "tourist vehicle badge". Specifically, vehicles with more than 29 seats only need to have a "Tourist Vehicle" badge to be allowed to circulate in Nha Trang city center.
Car park planning
Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee once shared that tourism development is always closely linked to the transportation industry.
According to Mr. Tuan, when the Nha Trang City Master Plan Adjustment Project until 2040 is approved, the locality will have parking areas and limit shuttle buses into the inner city.
Currently, Vo Nguyen Giap Street has a bus stop for tourist vehicles to park. The spirit is that the locality considers this a hub and cannot let vehicles go all the way to the hotels and from there cause traffic jams.
