The 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students is specified in the 2024-2025 school year plan of each locality. However, in reality, there may still be adjustments depending on the situation of each locality. For example, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tet holiday schedule has increased from 9 to 11 days.
In Hanoi, the Lunar New Year holiday schedule is implemented according to the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code and guidance documents of competent authorities. Because there is no detailed information, many parents are anxiously waiting for the finalization of the 2025 Tet holiday schedule.
With children studying in grades 7 and 9 at Lien Hong Secondary School, Dan Phuong (Hanoi), Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue cannot help but worry when there is no schedule for Tet holiday for students. She expressed: “My family is a carpenter, usually at the workshop from morning to night. With carpentry, the number of orders can be very large. Therefore, I need to know my children's holiday schedule early to proactively arrange time to take care of them.”
This year, her son is in the process of preparing for the 10th grade entrance exam. Therefore, Ms. Hue is even more concerned about her son's learning situation before and after the long vacation.
“My job makes it difficult for me to take care of my children. Meanwhile, both of them are still playful and lack self-discipline. I am very worried that if the Tet holiday is prolonged, it will lead to the children being negligent and losing their inspiration to study,” Ms. Hue shared.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (41 years old), a parent of 3 students in Trung Gia, Soc Son (Hanoi) also wants to know the students' Tet holiday schedule early so that he can proactively arrange time to return home. Contrary to Ms. Hue, he hopes that this year's Tet holiday can be longer.
Mr. Tuan shared: “Every year, my family has to arrange time to go back to my mother’s hometown around the 3rd day of Tet. Knowing the students’ vacation schedule in advance, my family can take the initiative in work so that the children can visit their grandparents and siblings longer. There are only a few long holidays like this in the whole year to go back to their hometown, so I hope my children will have more vacation than usual.”
However, Mr. Tuan also expressed concern if the Tet holiday is long but not properly arranged. Especially when this year his youngest daughter starts studying at Trung Gia A Primary School. "The closer to the end of the year, the more work I have. If the pre-Tet holiday is longer, I don't know how to teach my child to study."
According to Mr. Tuan, there should be detailed information about the Tet holiday schedule for students soon so that parents can be more proactive in their work. It is especially necessary to finalize the Tet holiday time in Hanoi because this is a locality where many families want to return to their hometowns during this time.
“In addition, I also hope that if the time is extended, the days off after Tet will be increased. This will help parents focus on year-end work instead of having to worry about taking care of their children. On the other hand, families like mine will have more time to return to their hometown,” Tuan added.
