On August 24, information from Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that the unit had just issued an Official Letter requesting units and localities to deploy urgent tasks to prevent and thoroughly handle environmental pollution.
The document stated that despite achieving some results in waste management and raising public awareness, the environmental pollution situation is still complicated, causing public outrage and potential risks to disorder.
In particular, many landfills are unsanitary, projects are behind schedule in handling, overusing pesticides, dust, emissions, noise from production, etc.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee frankly pointed out the causes of environmental pollution such as: A number of agencies, organizations and individuals still take environmental protection lightly; sanctions still lack deterrence; legal regulations are not synchronous with technical infrastructure and people's practices.
The dispatch also emphasized the role and responsibility of the public security sector, inspectors, prosecutors, and courts in fighting environmental crimes.
Accordingly, Lam Dong Provincial Police were assigned to investigate the acts of burying, landfill, dumping hazardous waste, and peeling off facilities that caused serious pollution.
The Provincial Police instruct the commune-level police to effectively exercise their authority to investigate and handle administrative violations; at the same time, install a surveillance camera system connected to the Ministry of Public Security to detect violations.
For Lam Dong Provincial Inspectorate, it will launch thematic inspections to handle the responsibility of heads of environmental projects that are behind schedule or have violations.
If violations of the law are detected, the file will be transferred directly to the investigation agency. The People's Procuracy and the People's Court are responsible for guiding the application of the law, determining crimes accurately, estimating damage and issuing strict penalties with deterrent effect.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requests Directors of relevant departments, branches and Chairmen of Commune People's Committees to coordinate in implementing tasks to protect the environment; at the same time, they must be directly responsible to the Provincial People's Committee if environmental violations occur.
Specifically, if an environmental pollution hot spot occurs without timely handling, causing disorder, security and order, it will be reviewed, responsibilities clarified and handled according to regulations.
To effectively carry out environmental protection tasks, from the third quarter of 2025, the Provincial People's Committee will publicize a list of facilities that have not installed an environmental monitoring system, and have not built an automatic air and water monitoring system.
Pollution-prone acts will be strictly handled, without exceptions, without forbidden areas.
