Discussing the detailed impact of storm No. 5 on Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep - Deputy Director of the Northern Hydrometeorological Station, on heavy rain, from noon and afternoon on August 24 due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone combined with the distant circulation before the storm, Hanoi city will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
According to Mr. Hiep, on August 25 - 26, Hanoi will have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places with very heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be on guard against the risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
"rainfall on August 25 - 26 in the northern and central city: generally 50 - 100mm, some places over 150mm. The western and southern areas of the city will have common rainfall of 70 - 150mm, some places over 200mm" - Mr. Hiep provided detailed information on rainfall forecast.

The meteorological agency of the Northern Region warned that the thunderstorms could be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind that could break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
Heavy rain overloaded the urban drainage system, causing flooding in residential areas, urban areas and low-lying areas, traffic congestion due to flooding and reduced visibility when driving, causing slippery traffic and accidents. High-intensity rain in a short period of time can cause landslides in mountainous areas, where the terrain is steep.
Regarding the strong wind situation, from the morning of August 25, Hanoi will have winds gradually increasing to level 4, sometimes level 5, gusting to level 6.

The Northern Delta, South Phu Tho, South Quang Tri, Hue and Da Nang from the night of August 24 to the night of August 25 are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 70 - 100mm, locally over 170mm.
The area from Thanh Hoa to North Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 150 - 300mm, locally over 500mm.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 27 to August 31, the weather forecast for the North (including the capital Hanoi) is scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain (rain concentrated in the late afternoon and night).
In the Northern region in the first days of September (from September 1 to 5), the weather will change more favorably. There is a possibility of thunderstorms in the evening and at night; sunny during the day, low probability of rain.
Some key milestones of the parade and fireworks display to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 are as follows:
