For about a week, people in villages 7, 8 and 10 (Xuan Du commune, Thanh Hoa province) have expressed concern about the phenomenon of mass natural fish deaths in streams (the section flowing to Can Khe 1 bridge).
According to households, not only fish died, but some ducks of people who ate dead fish also died.
Regarding the above incident, on May 13, representatives of the leadership of Xuan Du Commune People's Committee said that it is true that there is a phenomenon of natural fish and ducks of people dying abnormally. After receiving information, the locality sent functional forces to organize a scene inspection.
Functional agencies also worked with Mr. Le Viet Don (residing in hamlet 8, Xuan Du commune). According to the initial inspection record, on May 7, Mr. Don brought a non-plastic tank that was used to store gasoline, but had been dirty for a long time, to the area in front of his house to wash it. The wastewater from there flowed directly into the sewer.
Immediately after that, the working group of Xuan Du Commune People's Committee and Commune Police sealed the above-mentioned non-plastic box.
By May 13th, functional agencies had taken water samples at the stream near Can Khe 1 bridge and at some related households, in order to clarify the matter" - a representative of Xuan Du Commune People's Committee informed.
