The exercise was attended by local forces of Lao Cai province and units of Military Region 2 with many modern vehicles and equipment serving rescue and relief.
Attending and directing the drill were Major General Tran Van Bac, Commander of Military Region 2; Lieutenant General Pham Duc Duyen - Political Commissar of Military Region 2; Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee Duong Quoc Huy, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh.
The drill is divided into two phases. The first phase focuses on operating the command and operation mechanism for response to flash floods, landslides through simulated conferences of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and Lao Cai Provincial Civil Defense Command.
The live-fire phase took place in Ao Luong village, Lien Son commune with many realistic situations such as: evacuating people from dangerous areas, establishing a field command headquarters, deploying field hospitals, rescuing people and property swept away by floods, and overcoming the consequences after natural disasters.




Notably, the exercise used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for search and rescue, contributing to improving the ability to handle situations quickly and effectively.
Speaking at the summary meeting, Major General Tran Van Bac highly appreciated the preparation work and close coordination between the forces of Lao Cai province and Military Region 2.
At the same time, it is proposed that localities continue to review and supplement civil defense plans, strengthen investment in equipment, and improve disaster response and rescue capacity according to the motto "from early, from afar, prevention is the main thing".
Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary Duong Quoc Huy said that the drill contributes to improving leadership and operational capacity and the ability to mobilize forces and vehicles to handle natural disasters and catastrophes in the area.
At the end of the exercise, Military Region 2 and Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee commended many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.
