According to the Quick Report of the Lao Cai Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, as of the morning of July 17, the whole province had 124 deaths (Sa Pa 9; Van Ban 2; Bac Ha 24; Si Ma Cai 7; Bat Xat 15; Bao Yen 67); 26 people missing (Bat Xat 2; Bac Ha 10; Bao Yen 14); 86 people injured (Sa Pa town 17; Bat Xat 10, Bac Ha 19; Si Ma Cai 10; Bao Yen 30). Currently, 18 people have been discharged from the hospital, their health is stable.
Regarding housing, the total number of houses flooded, landslides, and swept away by floods is 8,208, of which (complete damage of more than 70%: 1,262 houses; very heavy damage of 50-70%: 923 houses; heavy damage of 30-50%: 2,731 houses; partial damage of less than 30%: 3,292 houses).
Floods have damaged 2,771 hectares of rice, 1,468.42 hectares of corn and many other crops.
In addition, 323.69 hectares of aquaculture area and 2,240 cubic meters of freshwater fish were affected. The number of commercial fish killed and swept away by floods due to broken ponds and tanks was 3,049.32 tons and 123,200 fish fry in Sa Pa town.
Regarding livestock, the total number of animals was 39,942 (of which 135 buffaloes, cows and horses died; 629 pigs, goats and sheep; 39,178 poultry died).
Along with that, a series of National Highways 4, 4D, 4E, 279, Provincial Roads 151-162 have landslides, damage, and subsidence, making traffic difficult.
Storm No. 3's circulation damaged and disrupted more than 300 irrigation works and about 170 domestic water supply works.
Not only that, 132 schools across Lao Cai province were affected, causing damage that prevented many students from returning to school.
In addition, a series of damaged medical infrastructure, electricity, telecommunications works, etc. are in the process of being repaired and restored.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, storm No. 3 has caused huge losses in human lives and property in the province. The initial estimated damage caused by the natural disaster is over 6,640 billion VND.
Currently, the search for missing people due to floods is being actively deployed by Lao Cai forces.
At the same time, departments and branches in the province conducted damage statistics and supported people in flood-affected areas to overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives.
