Thai Nguyen is entering the urban expansion phase, in which transport infrastructure has become a key factor with many large projects being implemented to create a foundation for socio-economic development.
In the planning until 2035, the province is oriented to develop ecological urban areas, multi-center areas, exploiting land funds on both sides of the river, with the bridge system playing a strategic connecting role.
A series of projects with a total capital of thousands of billions of VND have been implemented, notably Da Phuc bridge on National Highway 3 along with Quang Vinh 1 and Quang Vinh 2 in the urban center.

Da Phuc Bridge crosses the Cong River, playing the role of gateway connecting Thai Nguyen with Hanoi, helping to expand development space to the South, creating momentum for economic region linkage.
The project is part of a project with a total capital of nearly 1,500 billion VND from a loan from the World Bank, started in August 2022 under the program to renovate weak bridges and connecting bridges on national highways.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-September 2025, the project will basically complete items such as bridge deck, girder, railing and access roads at both ends of the bridge.
When put into operation, the new bridge will reduce the load on the old Da Phuc bridge, which was small and narrow, with a large volume of vehicles, many heavy trucks, and poses a potential risk to traffic safety.

In addition to increasing transport capacity, the bridge also creates an axis connecting Noi Bai airport and Hanoi capital directly, helping to expand regional economic cooperation, especially in the high-tech industry.
Together with Da Phuc, Thai Nguyen simultaneously deployed Quang Vinh 1 and Quang Vinh 2 bridges across the Cau River, opening a new traffic direction between the urban center and the potential North bank.
The two projects started construction in early 2025 with a total investment of more than 1,500 billion VND from the state budget, invested by the Thai Nguyen City Construction Investment Project Management Board (old).
Quang Vinh 1 Bridge has a total length of more than 3.4 km, starting at Duong Tu Minh Street and ending at National Highway 17 in Linh Son Ward, modern design, under great pressure.

Quang Vinh 2 Bridge connects Quan Trieu Ward and Linh Son Ward, the entire length of the route is about 1.43 km, the cross-section changes from 27 - 40.5 m, the highlight is the leaf-shaped cable-stayed tower.
By the beginning of the third quarter of 2025, both projects are treating the foundation, stuffing and erecting pillars at the same time as draining water to treat the foundation.
Many items such as abutments M1, T1 and T2 have been completed, some sections are facing difficulties due to prolonged rain.
Previously, informing reporters, the Thai Nguyen Province Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board said that according to the plan, Quang Vinh 1 and Quang Vinh 2 bridges will be completed in 2026.
When put into use, a new traffic axis will be formed, while increasing regional connectivity and expanding urban space.

These projects not only help connect the area but also create conditions for exploiting land funds, forming new urban areas associated with industrial parks, and at the same time expanding the development structure of the large industrial province.
The series of trillion-dong bridges is expected to become an important driving force for development, turning the spans connecting the two banks into a foundation for Thai Nguyen to break through in the process of sustainable urbanization.
