On October 11, the People's Committee of Giong Rieng District (Kien Giang) announced that the tornado that occurred on the afternoon of October 9 in several communes of Giong Rieng District damaged 67 houses and other property estimated at over VND1.6 billion. Not only that, there were 12 injured cases being treated at Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital and Giong Rieng District Medical Center.
Immediately after the incident, local leaders visited the victims injured by the tornado.
Previously, on October 9, a tornado suddenly swept through Ngoc Chuc, Hoa Thuan and Vinh Thanh communes, causing many houses to collapse, roofs to be blown off, and trees to fall, blocking about 500m of traffic.
Immediately after the incident, the armed forces of Giong Rieng district promptly grasped the situation, quickly reported to the Provincial Military Command, and coordinated with the functional agencies of the communes to quickly arrive at the scene to rescue the people.
About 70 officers and soldiers of the regular force and the mobile militia arrived at the scene to coordinate with the district and commune departments and organizations to help people collect belongings, support the treatment of injured people and make initial damage statistics.
