According to Mr. Hiep, one of the most frequently mentioned topics recently is the pension increase from July 1, 2026. Everyone happily shared how much their pension will increase after the new adjustment.
For retired officials like us, the most important thing is to be cared for. Therefore, pension increases are both practical in terms of material and meaningful in spirit. Since receiving information about pension increases, the group of retired officials is very happy. Last weekend, we immediately made a trip to Son Tay. The trip was both to share and to celebrate the pension increase event," Mr. Hiep shared.
A joyful atmosphere also takes place in many other localities. Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet in Dong Cuu commune, Bac Ninh province said that the information about pension increases has become an opportunity for many old friends to meet each other after a long period of retirement, each person in a different place.
Regarding the pension increase, we also met with a group of former officials to go on vacation. After retirement, many of my friends followed their children back to Hanoi to look after their grandchildren. The pension increase information is also an opportunity for everyone to meet," Ms. Tuyet said.
According to Ms. Tuyet, the group of retired officials just organized a day trip through tourist attractions such as Tam Phu Pagoda, Con Son, Kiep Bac. In the chats, in addition to asking about health and children, the topic of pension increase is always of concern to everyone.
According to Decree 162/2026/ND-CP, from July 1, 2026, the pension level, social insurance allowance and monthly allowance will be adjusted to increase by an additional 8% on the benefit level of June 2026 for groups subject to application.
The Decree stipulates the adjustment applied to people currently receiving pensions, social insurance allowances and monthly allowances before July 1, 2026.
In which, the group currently receiving monthly pensions includes cadres, civil servants, workers, public employees, laborers; people participating in voluntary social insurance; soldiers, people's police and people working in cryptography who are receiving monthly pensions.
In addition, there are commune, ward, and town officials who are receiving pensions or monthly allowances according to current regulations.
The Decree also applies to people who are receiving monthly unemployment benefits; people who are receiving benefits under Decision 91/2000/QD-TTg, Decision 613/QD-TTg; rubber workers who are receiving monthly benefits under Decision 206-CP.
Other groups include soldiers who are receiving monthly allowances according to Decision 142/2008/QD-TTg; people's police who receive allowances according to Decision 53/2010/QD-TTg; soldiers, people's police, and people working in cryptography who receive allowances according to Decision 62/2011/QD-TTg.
People entitled to monthly occupational accident and disease allowances and people entitled to monthly allowances according to Article 23 of the Law on Social Insurance No. 41/2024/QH15 are also subject to adjustments to increase.
Notably, the decree also stipulates additional support policies for people retiring before January 1, 1995 with low benefits.
After an increase of 8%, if the benefit level is still lower than 3.8 million VND/month, it will be adjusted further. People with a benefit level equal to or lower than 3.5 million VND/month will receive an additional increase of 300,000 VND/month. People with a benefit level above 3.5 million VND/month but lower than 3.8 million VND/month will be increased to 3.8 million VND/month.
According to statistics from Social Insurance, currently there are about 3.5 million people receiving pensions and allowances. With the above pension and allowance adjustment, the additional cost compared to 2025 is estimated at 10,773 billion VND.
