On November 12, the People's Committee of Da Lat City requested that pedal boat service businesses at Xuan Huong Lake temporarily suspend operations, pending completion of licensing procedures according to legal regulations.
There are currently 3 units organizing this type including: Da Lat Urban Services Joint Stock Company; Branch of Lam Dong Tourism Joint Stock Company (Thuy Ta Restaurant); business household of Mr. Nguyen Tran Anh Duy with 95 duck boats and a rescue canoe at each wharf.
According to the Law on Water Resources, business services on the lake surface must be licensed. However, up to now, the application files of these units at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province have not been approved.
To ensure compliance with regulations, the People's Committee of Da Lat City has directed the temporary suspension of services and requested relevant parties to complete necessary procedures.
Da Lat City is also seeking opinions from Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to conduct public bidding for pedal boat services at Xuan Huong Lake.
The winning bidder will have the right to legally operate this service. In the meantime, the pedal boats must anchor at the wharf and stop operating due to lack of legal qualifications.
