At the official launch ceremony of Metro Line 1, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, shared his joy and pride in witnessing an important moment in the development of the city's public transport.
Metro Line 1 not only meets the needs of fast and convenient travel for people, but also contributes to building a modern and sustainable transportation system.
Mr. Cuong affirmed: "Metro No. 1 is a symbol of the strong cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan. This is a testament to the perseverance and joint efforts for the sustainable development of both countries."
According to Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, the operation of Metro Line No. 1 not only opens a new chapter in the field of urban transport, but also contributes to forming the unique features of Ho Chi Minh City.
“Metro No. 1 will become an indispensable part of the vibrant city, a symbol of innovation and an impressive check-in place for people, especially young people,” Mr. Cuong shared.
In the next phase, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to prioritize and focus on investing in and synchronously developing urban railway lines in the urban transport planning, strongly developing according to the TOD model.
Mr. Ito Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, expressed his pride in witnessing the results of bilateral cooperation. He believes that Metro Line No. 1 will bring about major changes in the way people travel, from motorbikes and cars to modern public transport.
“In the new era with the goal of sustainable economic growth through digital transformation, infrastructure development and high-quality human resources, I believe Vietnam will attract more cooperation opportunities from foreign enterprises,” said Mr. Ito Naoki.
After the opening ceremony, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, along with the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City... and guests boarded Metro train No. 1 to experience it.
Then, from 10am this morning (December 22), people can experience Metro Line 1 at all 14 stations without having to register in advance. The city will waive tickets for 30 days, from December 22, 2024 to January 20, 2025, to encourage people to use Metro Line 1.
